School Safety and Security

The safety of all persons who may be present within the perimeter of the NIS campus, is paramount and therefore the school administration places a huge focus on the safety of all and the security of the premises. As part of our mission to provide a suitable learning environment, the school has installed a fully serviced security system throughout the school with an increased number of closed circuit TV cameras. A member of the security personnel monitors all access entrances, walkways, stairways and hallways in our new NIS Security Control Room.

The school provides additional security personnel who are posted at designated entry points around the school perimeter. Students, parents and teachers have two access points during arrival and departure times. During the course of the school day, this is restricted to one main access point.

All visitors to the school, including parents, are required to present a valid ID to permit entry. Visitors are provided with a Visitor’s Card before entry is allowed. Parents had been issued with an NIS Parent’s ID Card to identify those who are authorized to be on the school premises and to ensure a safe learning and work environment for all on campus. In the event of a registered parent not being able to present the NIS ID Card, another valid ID card may be presented to the security to permit entry.

The school has also appointed a Safety Officer who is responsible for checking on and maintenance of all safety issues including liaising with external safety agencies which service the fire alarm control system and fire fighting equipment. The school conducts regular fire drills and lockdown procedures throughout the school year in order to maintain optimum awareness of this important practice. Lists of emergency procedures and evacuation diagrams are posted in all class rooms and offices throughout the school.

In the event of an emergency, and if deemed necessary, parents are immediately informed via Phone Calls Whatsapp or SMS messages. All faculty and support staff are trained to be vigilant of any breach of security and to report accordingly.
