Art Gallery

The Art Fair is a perfect example for the learners to chronicle both their learning and their achievements. We get to see the yearlong endeavors that involve instruction and goal setting.

Elementary School

Students have been learning and developing the potential of various mediums and how effectively one can use them for the different components of a picture. Free flowing line designs / patterning / color balancing and contrasts have been learnt through the course. They had practice sessions to improve on their cutting skills while creating partial 3Dart forms. The concept of recycling and creating a piece of Art with waste materials was successfully completed. The development of their organizational skills and the enhancement of their creative artwork on a broader scale was continued through the art course. The reflection on each experience not only highlighted their strengths but also revealed their weaknesses. This was key in order to assess the students' learning and to improve on the teaching strategies which helped to highlight the challenges ahead and to be better prepared. The goal was to engage more creative initiatives which meant taking more responsibilities and risks while working towards favorable and awesome outcomes.

MS/HS:

Students are engaged in meaningful creative processes to realize their creative ideas into awesome and inspiring pieces of art. Throughout the year and throughout their studies of their art courses, they are absorbed in the procedures of thinking critically on an idea. This requires in-depth investigation of the developmental process through a chosen art medium which includes acrylic painting, mixed media, pencil and charcoal and three-dimensional work. Students are also encouraged to use found materials and to create with reuse-able and recycled materials.

This yearlong undertaking culminates into the NIS Annual Art Fair which showcases the work of both the Middle School and High School students in the new NIS Art Gallery. Students proudly present their pieces at the Opening Ceremony and provide information on their artistic ideas and answer questions. The success of this annual auspicious event on the school calendar has grown tremendously and parent support and interest have also been phenomenal. The NIS Art Gallery is a magnificent addition to our school and contributes greatly to the enhancement of our students' personal development.
